"The pad of the ONE12R from Munich-based manufacturer SQlab is only four millimeters thick. Nevertheless, the bib shorts proved comfortable even on long distances. The SQ pad is enormously firm and thus does not move, which helps to avoid pressure points. Especially in a sporty riding position, our testers found this comfortable. The seams are ultrasonically taped and do not cut in at any point. The same goes for the laser-cut leg cuffs. The back's wide padding with mesh insert proved to be very breathable. No pressure points

Due to their tight design, the SQ pads retain their shape. They are thus not, as with many, high, soft pads unpleasantly pushed inward during the pedaling motion. In addition, the SQ pad 12R is positioned in the SQ shorts for the very sporty sitting position on the road bike, in which the pelvis rotates strongly forward.

Long lasting and flexible

The Ultrasonic welded seams provide a high wearing comfort and are particularly flexible. The welded seams can avoid friction points and skin irritations. The flexible, breathable straps provide consistent tension with optimal support and stretch.

The SQ-Pad 12 R has an adapted shape for the very sporty sitting position on the road bike. In which the pelvis rotates strongly forward. The pad, which is only a maximum of 4 mm thick, initially feels exceptionally tight and high quality. The very thin pants pad becomes increasingly comfortable with increasing mileage and adapts wonderfully to the body shape.

Adapted & Comfortable

The SQ pads are universally suitable for any sit bone distance. The slight excess width ensures that even during the pedaling movement the sit bones rest snugly on the pad and do not push inward. Conclusion: A too wide saddle can lead to problems - a pad does not.

Why is the SQlab pad hard and thin?

Myth soft saddle: sit bones serve to absorb the body weight and can withstand high pressure. A bike saddle that is too soft causes the sit bones to sink in. This irritates sensitive tissue, as well as muscle and ligament attachments. This means that deeply sinking sit bones lead to a higher load on the perineal area in men and the deeper-lying pubic arch in women.

But this is precisely where the question arises as to why we ride tight saddles, and then in turn simulate a soft saddle by using thick and super-soft cycling shorts pads?

Because the result is the same: Sinking sit bones, restricted blood supply and increased friction.

Why haven't tight pants pads been around longer?

Because high-quality foams with better damping properties have a higher density and thus lose breathability. Using a patented process, we have managed to break up the structures of the very dense foam. The result is high breathability, comparable to conventional pads or even better. The perfect cushioning remains fully intact.

The SQ Short ONE12R is made for competition and has a tight fit. Please note, for the choice of the right pant size is the hip circumference crucial. Measure horizontally at the strongest point of your hips.
