Grip ergonomics for the long haul! Perfect fit, cushioning and comfort for the Mountainbike

VSF certified - BEST ERGONOMICS

"SQlab's shape and size concept offers an outstanding selection of different grips for every purpose. The ergonomic shape effectively supports the hands, while the unusual grip edge ensures "grip" and greater riding safety. All models are available in three sizes, which differ in diameter, length and shape."  VSF

The individual size

The perfect fit of the bike grip is crucial for comfort and grip safety. The grip width of a bike handle is the distance your hand needs to hold on securely. It is measured from the tip of the middle finger to the crook of the thumb.

Pressure relief - raised outer side for pressure distribution and cushioning
One Piece - closed grip end
Surface - enlarged support surface for maximum pressure relief

The clamping on the inside ensures comfort on the outside

Ergobar

The Ergobar has a wave-shaped elevation on the underside. This results in a flat, slightly angular underside of the grip. A perfect match for the angular, angled fingers.

Hand

Ergonomics down to the last detail - well thought out.

The slight wave shape of the Ergobar reflects the different finger lengths of the hand.

Handlebars are round and because it's easy, grips are usually round too. But fingers are anything but round. They slip easily on something round and, in contrast to the flat table edge shown in the example, have no grip.

round = no hold possible round = no hold possible
angular & flat = firm hold angular & flat = firm hold

Pressure mapping in the SQlaboratory

Pressure measurements are carried out with an electronic pressure measuring foil/mat. We have been using pressure measurement in saddle development since the beginning. Together with a manufacturer of pressure sensors, we were able to further develop the system and make it flexible enough to be able to wrap the pressure mat around the grip. Some of our premium dealer partners also use our pressure measurement system for advice.

Pressure measurements in comparison

The left grip is shown in each case. At the top you can still see slight pressure from the fingers in the front grip area.

Despite the continuous clamping sleeve and the harder rubber, the pressure of the 7OX is hardly higher than that of the 711.

The small surface area, in combination with a very thin layer of rubber due to the clamping, results in massive pressure peaks.

The ergonomic, round grip cannot outwit physics. The pressure remains high and even expands in the direction of the carpal tunnel outlet.

The hard, stiff wing reduces the pressure slightly, but distributes it unfavorably to the carpal tunnel outlet.

Description at a glance

The 711 features perfect grip ergonomics for long-distance routes and use in racing on sports-oriented mountain bikes. A well thought-out, highly ergonomic shape offers an especially secure grip and comfort. The scope of delivery includes a set of grips. The clamp moved from the outside to the inside in the course of the product development. This increases the shock absorption and comfort on the hand’s outer side.

In addition, the outside surface area was increased using every trick in the book, making it as comfortable as a wing grip despite not being one. As round as necessary and as flat as possible: With the 711 grip, the outer contact surface is pressed flat, thus reducing the pressure peaks many times over. The grip security is supported by the Ergobar. This results in a flat, slightly angular grip bottom and offers a perfect form fit. This allows the grip to be guided loosely while still always keeping the bike under control.

The advantages of the grip are particularly noticeable at the end of a tough marathon, but they also increase the fun on long tours or quick trips after work. Increased performance through perfect ergonomics. Various rubber compounds ensure a perfect grip level and high comfort. We only use the best possible materials. This guarantees you a long service life and no sticking of the grip rubber. The personal grip size is what matters. With the 711 grip, the sizes differ in diameter and shape.
